ANIMAL SOLDIERS - NEW SERIES

I just want to tell you about this new series I am developing for Billschannel. It's called Animal Soldiers and it takes place in the Amazon Region of Brazil. These soldiers are a very special unit whose mission is to protect the environment. Among these duties is the rescue wild animals that have invaded the city and return the to the wild.

I know there are a lot of guys out there on Discovery Channel and Animal Planet as well as National Geographic catching animals, but this is going to be something you have never seen before. Belem, Brazil is a town on the edge of the Amazon Rainforest. As the city and it's population expand into areas that were previously wild, exotic animals lose their habitat and wander into people's yards and homes. That's where the soldiers of the Batalhao De Policia Ambiental come in. They are a unit of 200 soldiers who are trained to protect Brazil against Illegal Timber Trading, Illegal exotic animal smuggling, bio-piracy and more. One of their most active areas is the capture many different type of animals, provide Veterinarian assistance, and return the animals to the wild as much as possible.

THE STORIES I AM WORKING ON FOR THIS SERIES

1. ANACONDA ON MY PORCH

Lt. Gilmar and team get called from 911 (190) for what they think is a boa constrictor but find a Giant Anaconda instead... and they have to catch it in the pouring rain. Back at HQ, the snake is measured and becomes famous on the news before soldiers return it to the wild.


2. BOA CONSTRICTOR ON MY ROOF

A girl laying in bed listening to music on her Iphone, discovers a big Boa Constrictor on the ceiling of her bedroom. Her mother calls the Animal Soldiers, but it isn't easy to get a boa down from the roof when it doesn't want to go. Lt. Gilmar ultimately gets his prey. The Snake is determined to be healthy and taken back to the Jungle for release.



2 JARARACA

Private Gomes and his team answer a call from local university about a wild snake in the biology department... They arrive to discover it is a Jararaca, one of the most poisonous snakes of South America. The team captures the snake, gets it back to HQ, and later releases it back into the wild.

2 SURUCUCU

Lt. Vasconselos and team are called to a home to remove a small snake. Once inside the house, they discover a baby Surucucu, one of the most poisonous snakes in the Amazon. The baby is dead but where is the mother? To make matters worse, the women who lives in the house has a phobia against snakes!


3. IGUANAS CAPTURED
BPA gets a call about a big Iguana on the street near their headquarters. The Iguana's here can be dangerous so soldiers use a net to catch it. Back at HQ they discover it has parasites attached to it and remove them and burn the parasites.


4. BABY PARROTS ABANDONED

A family chops down a tree unaware that there is a Parrot nest at the top. But once they pick up the baby parrots, the parent birds abandon the chics and Tenente Marcedo has to look all over town for a facility that can care for the little birds.

5. OWL RESCUE

Ten Marcedo gets called by a woman who says there is a wounded Owl in her backyard.
Amazon Jungle is home to some really beautiful birds... some of the more beautiful are the owls... Lt. Hejaij picks up a black owl from workers at a construction site.
Ivaldo accepts a wounded owl from a man who brings it to BPA headquarters.


6 EGRETS

Lt. VasConselos and team head out to rescue an Egret that has been injured by Kyte fliers. Lt.Gilmar gets a call for a downed Egret in a city park that he suspects was poisened by pesitcides.

7. MONKEY BITES KID

Sgt. Orienas and team set out to capture a monkey that bit a child. But now a teenager has threatened to kill it in revenge and the soldiers must capture it before its too late.


8. SLOTHS

When a family finds a sloth in their backyard tree, Lt. Gilmar and fellow soldiers have to improvise to get the sloth down safely. Albilo also gets a call but he is lucky to get it down without having to cut down the tree. Lt. Marcedo recieves a baby Sloth from a man and asks for a pillow to keep it comfortable

9 . RACCOONS

Private Eleres and Private Desousa talk to man about the raccoon he is keeping, illegally while Sgt. Gomes and Sgt. Orienas get called to a house where they struggle to remove an aggressive raccoon from a wood cage.

10. FIGHTING COCK FIGHTS

Lt. Marcedo and team raid a suspected cockfight promoter - but busting a cockfighting business man is not all that easy


11. HOSTAGE CRISIS

Lt. Vasconselos is called into a hostage crisis on his way back to base with a wounded Egret. Vasconselos must talk a young man who is holding a girl at gunpoint to lay down his weapon and release the girl so they can get the Egret back to base before it is too late.
