Alludin (Kamal Hassan) is a very careless and irresponsible person who stays in the kingdom of Baghdadh. His mother Fatima (Savitri) wants him to take up responsibility and clear off all the dues which his father had left incomplete before his death. A Mantrik takes away Allaudin to get the magical lamp. Alludin gets the magical lamp and comes back to his own house. Unexpectedly once he comes in contact with the Princess of Bagdadh Roshni (Jaya Bharathi) and falls in love with her. Their love is not acceptable by Kamruddin (Rajni Kanth) and Jamela (Sripriya). Allaudin takes the help of the Genie which comes out from the magical lamp to solve all the problems of the Bagdadh kingdom and also for getting his love.
