Abelhas para um futuro | Miguel Leal | TEDxPenafiel

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. A highly traveled and full of Nature adventures man, talks about sustainability and presents a vision of the bees for the future.

After having graduated in Aquatic Sciences , Miguel Leal did
course of special operations with the Portuguese army and lounged for 7
years across North America, having lived in Vancouver , Toronto , and the
Rockies . During this time , photographed and wrote for magazines
as the Great Reportage and Around the World, on nature ,
experiences , adventure , and life of the native people . One of his adventures
favorite was hunting in the company of their friends Eskimos ,
learning with them the art of survival in nature .
Once he has experienced the joys and responsibility of
parenthood, returned with his partner Maria João , his hometown ,
Paredes , to create daughter , Maria .
In the middle , completed his Masters in Engineering of Forest Resources ,
cracked plenty of firewood , taught at the University of Tras -os- Montes and Alto Douro
and was co - founder of the movement Paredes em Transição and company TimberBee .
Today , among other things , is dedicated to beekeeping and construction of
TimberBee hives , using portable sawmills for part of the wood
it uses.
The movement Paredes em Transição is a network of friends who share
concern that the debilitating dependence on fossil fuels
cost that our society and economy suffer is likely to occur in
severe and unpredictable problems that technology cannot
deliver us , and that may adversely affect our future too .
