Mike Wipper is a first year student at Connecticut College. Although photography of abandoned is a passion of his, his interest in photography also includes travel and portrait work. He's an avid traveler having been most recently to Okinawa on a research trip with the East Asian Studies department at Conn. Mike's major is undeclared as of now, but in the future he hopes to pursue photography as a means for humanitarian work and continue working abroad, more specifically, in Spanish speaking countries. In his free time, Mike likes to hike, read, visit art galleries, and brew beer.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
