As a supporter of women's rights this social scientist chose to use an opportunity to study the evolution of dress and fashion in post-independence Khartoum to look at what harshly enforced dress codes by a conservative government can possibly do to the natural organic evolution of a traditional society as it moves towards modernity. With rare historical pictures and entertaining anecdotes he manages to engage the audience in thought provoking social and moral questions.
