Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President of the EC, speaks on the issue of women's rights in advance of the Colloquium on Fundamental Rights 2017. There is still a pension gap of 40% between women and men in Europe and a pay gap of 14%. The 2017 edition of the Annual Colloquium on Fundamental Rights, taking place in Brussels on 20 and 21 November will focus on "women's rights in turbulent times". The objective of the event is to improve mutual cooperation and greater political engagement for the promotion and protection of key fundamental rights in the EU.
