Leah Lizarondo is the Chief Veghacker, recipe creator and curator at The Brazen Kitchen, where she writes about food and food policy. She also writes a weekly food column for Pittsburgh Magazine online and is a Forbes Travel correspondent for Pittsburgh.
Leah received her Masters Degree in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University graduating with Highest Distinction and is an advocate for urban farming, healthy food accessibility, food safety policy and sustainability. She has trained at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City and received her Certification in Plant-based Nutrition from Cornell University. She serves as one of the Trustees at the national Awesome Foundation: Food, serving with leaders and creative innovators in food. She is also a volunteer Ambassador for Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.
Leah and her recipes have been featured in print and online publications including Edible Allegheny, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, PopCity, Our Region's Business, KDKA Pittsburgh Today Live and national media including MSN's Re:Discover Series, NPR and on Oprah.com. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
