For most of history, the Bible has not been particularly accessible to Christians who don't speak Latin, Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic. It reportedly wasn't translated into English until the 14th century, and even then, it was hard to come by a copy, since they all had to be painstakingly written by hand.
It wasn't until 1611, after use of the printing press became widespread, that a truly popular English translation came into existence. King James I of England ordered scribes to translate the Bible, and that version became known as the King James Bible. More than 400 years later, it remains the only worthwhile English translations for some Christians. Here's why many Christians prefer the King James Bible.
