3. I’ll have to think about that…
4. That’s a good question.
5. How shall I put it?
6. Let’s put it this way…
7. The best way to answer that is… / The best way I can answer that is…
8. That’s an interesting question, let me see… (That’s a tough question / That’s a difficult question… / That’s a hard question…)
9. Perhaps the best way I could answer that is…
10. Ask a clarifying question or rephrase the question. You can also Restate the question in your answer. Two useful phrases for this are: Are you asking…? / So you’d like to know …?

12. Avoid the bad habits of native speakers. Don’t use hesitation expressions like umm and uhh. Remember to take a slight natural pause before answering.
