Mention 'putu piring' and Malaysians will usually have a recollection of something tasty they have tried when they were young. By definition 'putu piring' literally means rice flour on a plate...indeed, this unusually local dessert has its origin in Kerala and Tamilnadu. Hence 'putu' is an Indian word for rice flour. To Malaysians, it is a dessert that is usually found in the night markets.The Chinese calls it 'kueh tutu', the Indians call it 'putu mayam', but they are referring to the same white fluffy rice flour steamed on a plate and mixed with lots of brown sugar and has an aromatic 'pandan' flavour. 
Manaweblife discovered this stall in KL's Kampung Baru,one of the city's Maly enclave that has lots of street food and offers a culinary destination of discovery.
