It’s an incredibly rare thing for an NFL team to remain undefeated throughout the entirety of a season. In fact, ever since the incorporation of the playoff system in 1932, only one team has ever done it: The 1972 Miami Dolphins. In their seventh season overall and their third in the NFL, the Dolphins laid waste to every team that came their way, including the venerable Washington Redskins (who were recently renamed as the Washington Commanders) in Super Bowl VII. From incredible coaching to an impeccable team filled with players who had mastered their respective roles, there were many reasons that contributed to their perfect season.
