Dave makes his living as a journalist, but is also a student and performer of improvised comedy, and has a lifelong love of hip-hop culture. He has combined these interests to create Excursions, a collaborative live show designed to bring out the warmth and humour of freestyle rapping and take it to new audiences. As a Cornishman who grew up in the tiny village of Stenalees, Dave is fascinated by how such a niche urban sub-culture managed to spread around the world and wind up co-existing alongside the local shop, bowling green and Women's Institute.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
