The Internet's vast information and open-source projects have enabled innovators to stand on the shoulders of others. Nine months ago, Vinjai and Adithya -- two students with an interest in electronics -- came up with an idea to help with a major problem: finger amputations. Join them on their journey of creating, publishing, and open-sourcing their mind-reading bionic glove -- part of the new movement of "Open Innovation."
Adithya Ganesh
Adithya is an avid violinist and pianist, fascinated by the triad of mathematics, electronics and programming. A senior at Stanford University Online High School, he earnestly believes in the pivotal role algorithms and mathematics will play in the coming century. He co-edits a newsletter for the nonprofit Vibha, and has performed violin with the Madras Chamber Orchestra and for the Indian composer Ilaiyaraaja. A USA Mathematical Olympiad qualifier, he has co-authored a book with Dr. Titu Andreescu on algebra for math competitions (to be published end of 2013).
Vinjai Vale
In his free time, Vinjai Vale enjoys playing the piano, tinkering with electronics, programming things, and creating robots. A 2013 Caroline D. Bradley Scholar, Vinjai is a homeschooled 8th grader. He is also a part-time student at the Stanford University Online High School, and he recently discovered that he is interested in history - although mathematics still remains the favorite topic of the two-time USA Junior Math Olympiad qualifier. Vinjai also enjoys sharing his passion for mathematics through his community service organization KidsTeachKids (www.kteachk.org).
