The US ambassador to Germany has sharply criticized Angela Merkel's government for its reluctance to join a naval mission in the Strait of Hormuz. "America has sacrificed a lot to help Germany remain part of the West," Richard Grenell said. "Germany is the biggest economic power in Europe. This success brings global responsibilities."
Germany's Foreign Ministry has rejected the US request, saying that priority should be given to diplomatic efforts and to de-escalating tensions with Iran.
