Yan Zou is an international volunteer of VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas), an organization that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries . She went to Kenya in March 2012 as a strategic consultant for a Youth Polytechnic (YP) for 18 months, where she helped principal and teachers there to think outside of box and the YP to develop income generating activities. She is also a volunteer in The Palace Museum. Yan Zou has strong curiosity for the world, respect for education and love for classic art. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
