Rose McGowan may not be the most active actress anymore, but she's nonetheless on the scene as a political activist and in the telling of her wacky personal story. McGowan grew up in the Children of God cult, where she witnessed numerous atrocities involving manipulation, predation, brainwashing, and sexual abuse. Fortunately, McGowan says, her family fled the commune before anything particularly awful could happen to her, but the experience nonetheless attuned McGowan to the signs and psychological effects of abusive behavior in all walks of life. McGowan helped shed light on the Weinstein abuses, among other issues, early in the MeToo movement. This was Rose McGowan's experience in the Children of God cult.
