On May 25, 2005, more than 100 seniors from Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham, Alabama, set off on a five-day vacation in Aruba. Among the group was 18-year-old, straight-A student Natalee Holloway. Over the weekend, Natalee and her friends spent time at the beach and the hotel pool. They had drinks at local bars and the hotel casino. On Sunday night, Natalee met 17-year-old local Joran van der Sloot, a popular high school soccer player, and his 21-year-old friend Deepak Kalpoe. Late in the night, after much drinking and dancing, Natalee and Joran got into the backseat of Deepak's car. That was the last time she was seen.
