Wouldn't it be cool if you could sit down in front of a computer and, after showing it what you liked, have it intelligently generate unique works of art based on your own aesthetic preferences?

Sebastian has spent many late nights trying to make this a reality. His research focuses on ways of using artificial intelligence techniques to allow computers to gain an understanding of aesthetic, and eventually produce a system that would allow all composers, regardless of their technical ability, to create beautiful, original sounds.

He graduated from the University of Tasmania with honours in computing in 2012. He has spoken at a number of programming and artistic computing conferences, and currently lives and works as an iOS developer in "sunny" Melbourne.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
