Sound strange but the results are quite fascinating.

A Japanese company showcases adorable cats sitting and posing on beds of rice and seafood.

The kitties are dressed up and accessorized with flowers, hats, handbags and neckties.

The company behind the bizarre artistic pieces offers standard portraits of the sushi cats, fans and postcards. One comical photo depicts a granny cat resting on top of sushi.

Staring upwards, the cat showcases a set of glasses and a knitted covering over its back and neck. Two knitting needles, which upon first glance could be mistaken for chop sticks, rest right next to the content cat.

Another kitty image features a cat that can be described as a stud. Lying over - you guessed it - sushi, the feline wears a chauffer's hat and a purple tie. The decked out kitty has cash bills resting on its back.

Apparently sushi cats are becoming all the rage, as a smartphone app featuring the unique pictures has been released.
