Barb Frye does not let the fact that she is in a wheel chair slow her down. She is a wife, mother, author, motivational speaker, and counselor. At the age of eighteen, Barb's decision to get into a car with a friend after they had both been drinking is one she will live with for the rest of her life. As a result of that decision, she was in an accident that left her paralyzed from the neck down. But today, Barb spends much of her time lending her considerable wit and wisdom to motivational speaking. She teaches her audiences how to get past personal shortcomings and move forward productively in their lives.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
