I have been playing music since I was 10 years old. I started on the piano and picked up the squeezebox in high school when my mom found an old 12-bass at an estate sale and bought it. Being an elementary school teacher lent itself to music integration pretty easily. Telling students to quiet down while strumming a ukulele is surprisingly effective. As an Ed Tech, I've "gone electric" in almost every aspect of my professional life. However, I still think acoustic has no substitute when it comes to music. That being said, why choose?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
