What if for one day anyone could set up a restaurant, café or a bar anywhere they wanted? Timo Santala tells the story of Restaurant Day -- a crazy idea that became the world's biggest food carnival inspiring thousands of foodies in over 50 countries worldwide.

Timo Santala is a passionate and active city culturalist and creator of worldwide phenomena. He is best known as one of the founders of Restaurant Day, a worldwide food carnival. He is also the founder of We Love Helsinki group. Santala is also know as a party host and DJ as well as a travel, food and wine journalist and photographer.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
