At Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, Head of Animal Care, Torie Curr Smith has her hands full when two young orphaned baboons, Pretzel and Gus, who she has helped raise, jump over the electric fence when they’re released into an outdoor enclosure for the first time.

The team at the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust in Southeast Africa is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned animals, ensuring they get back into the wild where they belong. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa and resources are scarce, so the team has to make do and improvise. Power cuts are common, the rainy season inundates the center, but the wildlife conservation work must go on. To sponsor Pretzel’s troop for £25 for one year, please click the donation link above!
