How long have you been staying English? The PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS and the PRESENT PERFECT PROGRESSIVE are two names for the same exciting English grammar point! In today’s English lesson you will learn how to use the present perfect continuous. I know some people have been looking forward to this English grammar lesson.
The present perfect continuous is mostly used to talk about an event that started in the past, but is still continuing now. Ex. He has been living in Canada for 5 years. In that example it is clear his action of living in Canada started in the past and that he is still living in Canada now.
You will learn the formula for how to make positive sentences in the present perfect progressive, how to make negative sentences in the present perfect progressive, and how to make questions in the present perfect progressive.
Positive Present Perfect Progressive: Subject + Have / Has + Been + Verb + ing + Object. Ex. I have been teaching English for 11 years.
Negative Present Perfect Progressive: Subject + Have / Has + NOT + Been + Verb + ing + Object. Ex. She has not been learning English for long.
