Johanne is a young Danish energy anthropologist at The Alexandra Institute who works with anthropological user studies and user involvement to develop concepts, technology and services in the energy domain.

Johanne's research is centered around energy consumption and behavioural change.
In a world of research centered on innovation, sustainability technologies and green solutions, Johanne is pointing to the lack of human focus in our sustainability approaches. Looking to policy initiatives, strategies and research, human behaviour seems to be a non-factor in the suggested changes.

Johanne advocates that we need to take into account the human perception of energy and energy consumption before we can change behaviour. In other words, she is emphasising the need for a holistic, human-centered take on energy consumption to make real a different energy pattern in the future.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
