The mayor of the Polish city of Gdansk is in a critical condition after being stabbed in front of thousands of people during the finale of a large charity event. A man rushed the stage and stabbed Pavel Adamowicz with a knife in a politically-motivated attack. The popular politician, who's been Gdansk mayor for 20 years, is fighting for his life in hospital. Citizens are giving blood to help save the life of Pavel Adamowicz. He's a leading figure in Poland's opposition movement in the city that gave birth to the Solidarity trade union almost 40 years ago. Sunday's event was part of a nationwide campaign to raise funds to provide medical equipment for hospitals.
