'Love can move Mountains' - this is the message 'Pasavalai' gives. King Mahendran is a just ruler. However, a wrong deed by his brother Puranthiran gives his rival Kolakalan an opportunity to instigate the subjects of his kingdom to go against the king. Before Mahendran can take any action, Puranthiran escapes from the palace. Mahendran, being an honest and just ruler, relinquishes his throne for not being able to punish his brother. He leaves his kingdom along with his queen and children. Now, begin the trials and tabulations of Mahendran's family.
