Nine side lanes within SS2 commercial center will gain a new lease of life, thanks to the efforts of Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin and Petaling Jaya City Councillor for SS2 Lee Suet Sen. There were a total of 22 walls at SS2 commercial center to be decorated in any forms of art - paint, spray, installation etc. The competition received 109 initial submissions including rough sketches and this was narrowed down to 20 which were further reduced to 9 when some shop owners decided to pull out.
The idea was to promote art while at the same time, rejuvenate SS2 through this project. Some of these artists were seen using ladders and some even used skylifts to reach the top of the walls. The selected lanes would also be lit-up with LED lamps as both a safety measure and to allow pedestrians to view the wall art at night.
Nowadays many children are glued to their tablets and hand phones, and it would be nice if they could look up for a minute or two to admire some real art once in a while. Locations of these murals are SS2/55, SS2/61, SS2/63, SS2/64, and SS2/66 & SS2/67. At the time this video was uploaded, some of the murals have already been completed.
