In the shallows of the Amazon lives the mata mata turtle. The word 'mata mata' means "kill". It waits patiently underwater for prey, but as a reptile it needs to breathe, so its snout becomes a snorkel. When a fish gets close the mata mata opens its huge mouth, creating a vacuum. Faster than the eye can see the fish get sucked to their deaths.
