This video was shot at the Ramadhan Bazaar in  the outskirts of Kajang in the Ulu  Langat district. Amongst the rows of stall catering to the buka puasa crowd is this savoury stall that makes Kelantan-style kuih akok. Juih akok is essentially a baked egg tart or pudding made from a mix of coconut milk, flour, pandan flavour, palm sugar (gula Melaka) and lots of eggs. The mix is baked in brass moulds resulting in a pretty sweet tart that is crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The tart looks greenish because of the pandan flaovouring. The tempting sweet aroma is unique. This stall owner has been doing this at night markets here for the past 10 years. His original Kelantanese recipe makes a it a worthwhile wait for the tarts to bake.
