This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. When the loss of her job in 2013 triggered an identity crisis, designer and entrepreneur Sarah Colson, discovered the key to MAKE her happy was under her bed. In this talk, she shares some of the artistic projects that have since taken her worldwide.

Sarah graduated in 2008 from UWE with a first class BA Hons in Interdisciplinary Textile Design. Her graduation projects launched her investigation into thinking about everyday objects as tools for story telling. Relocating to France soon after made her realise the value of artistic communication and offered her a tool for survival in within a foreign culture and language. Propelled by this Sarah continued her studies with an MA in Design Products at the Royal College of Art graduating in 2011. Sarah now continues to use the process of communication to navigate her way through objects and hence has created a diverse range of projects to invite her audiences to experience her interpretations of space. Whether that be a communal food performance, an interactive drawing table or a light made from everyday objects, Sarah's work encourages interaction and empathy amongst people objects.
