It's Showtime Reborn With A Showcase Of Creative Space !
Cantonese and Mandarin fluent speaker, Sifu David Peterson of WSL Wing Tsun Combat Science, is on stage to demonstrate his martial arts skill.
Right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown along Jalan Sultan was once an iconic cinema called REX. It was built in 1947, and has a cinema hall that sits a thousand! Its showtime came to a halt in 2002. At the end of 2019, it raised its curtains once again, now as REXKL, after being refurbished by local architects to become a creative space that 'brings people together to create'.
This video showcases the REXKL Flower Market 2019 weekend event programme for the 2020 Chinese New Year. Take a look at the new hive of creative energy that vibrates within this massive venue from its basement ( was formerly its carpark) to the 60,000 sq ft main open space ( formerly the main cinema hall) on the second floor. Surely, there's more than just flowers taking bloom at this event. From F&B to exhibits to performances that capture the spirit of many eras and all kinds of young creative energies coming together at one place.
This new community-led cultural and creative space aims to bring together independent entrepreneurs from all over to trade and showcase their crafts and wares. For some, it's a reminiscence of the bygone days, for others it is a discovery to behold. Come experience this new lease of life at the legendary REXKL for yourself. Check ut the REXKL fb page for the upcoming events throughout the year. Best of all, you don't need to buy any movie tickets to enter!
