In Nairobi, Kenya, the slum of Korogocho was once notorious for violence and sexual assault against women. It was particularly bad for elderly women, who were easy prey for younger men. Many HIV positive men would rape them based on the belief that they would be cured of AIDS that way. But now, thanks to its oldest female residents and their self-defense and martial arts training, a different story is emerging in Korogocho.
