Alice Marie Johnson was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for a first time, nonviolent drug offense. She never once lost hope or gave up fighting for her freedom. After a video of Alice talking about her story went viral, it caught the attention of Kim Kardashian, who was so moved by Alice's story she decided she needed to help in any way she could. Kim's activism on Alice's behalf led President Trump to grant Alice clemency after serving 21 years in jail. Alice is now determined to not let her newfound freedom go to waste. She is tirelessly working to inform, educate, and repair the US criminal justice system. Katie Couric sat down with Alice to discuss her story and her experience, which she wrote about in her new book, "After Life: My Journey from Incarceration to Freedom."
