Q: Could you please tell me how I make indirect questions? I was wondering why indirect questions are important? A: Indirect questions are the best way to politely ask someone a question in English. This lesson will take a look at direct questions and how you can change them into indirect questions to be more polite in English. You will learn useful English expressions for indirect questions as well as important grammar formulas for making indirect questions.

English Grammar Tip: The most common ways to start indirect questions are: Do you know…? Could you please tell me…? Would you mind telling me…? I was wondering…? Then finish the question with a WH question word, a subject, then a verb. For yes or no question, use the word ‘if’ instead of the WH question word.
