They might look like a meaningless art installation, but in fact they have a super important mission to help the homeless people warm up. You can also make a difference and change the world if you reach out to homeless people instead of ignoring them. Be polite and friendly. -The original idea of putting scarves in public places comes from a group called Chase the Chill. It was founded in 2008 in Easton, Pennsylvania, and its main mission is to celebrate the art and beauty of hand knitting and, more importantly, to give back to the community.
-According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, on any given night nearly 554,000 people across the U.S. were homeless in 2017, which is just shy of 1% more than there were in 2016. A scarf that might mean nothing to you can mean the world to them.
-Whenever you see a homeless person, don't act like you don’t see them. Carry gift cards for fast food chains or grocery stores with you to give to someone in need. Simply keep some granola bars and bottled water on you to give it away in case you spot someone struggling.
