Iceland : The Land of Fire & Ice


August 2011, 27 days , 1860 Km, 2 persons, 92 GB of photos and videos , 2 cameras , 55 kg of equipment, a tent and a map.

Our project was to realize a visual documentary up to ten minutes long about the vision that the Icelandic people have on their own land. It's a different view than that of our (westerners) because Iceland is bursting with sagas, myths and legends. We focused specifically on landscapes and their history because they believe that there are hidden people, called the "Huldufólk." Which consists of strange creatures such as trolls, elves and spirits. People cohabiting with men, invisible but present."

Notre projet consistait à réaliser un documentaire visuel d’une dizaine de minutes sur la vision que le peuple Islandais entretient avec sa terre. C’est un regard différent du notre (occidental), car l’Islande regorge de sagas, de mythes et de légendes. Nous nous sommes intéressés plus spécifiquement aux paysages et à leurs histoires car il existe selon eux, un peuple caché, le « Huldufólk » . Il serait composé d’étranges créatures comme les trolls, les elfes et les esprits. Un peuple qui cohabiterait avec les hommes, invisible mais présent.
