Yogi is special. Just ask anyone who has ever met him.

In 2005, Yogi was rescued in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Seven months old and hairless, Yogi had Demodex mange and terrible sunburn.

Dr. Jennifer Stobbe (Aunt Jen) a vet who teamed up with Arkansans for Animals in New Orleans
brought 55 animals back to her animal hospital in Mississippi.

Yogi was one of them. He lived at Aunt Jen’s animal hospital for six years.

He was loved. He was every employee’s favorite and part of their family.

He was even a blood donor and helped save lives.

But they weren’t able to find him a home of his own.
And they wanted that for him.

After spending a year and a half at Longmont Humane Society in Colorado
Yogi came to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Southern Utah in hopes that we could find him a home of his own.

Of course, we all fell in love with him.

He thinks every moment of his life is wonderful and he approaches every day with a smile on his face.

10 years after Hurricane Katrina, almost to the day of his rescue, Yogi’s life got even better.

Yogi is adopted and headed to a home of his own at last.

After ten years as a homeless pet, Yogi finally found his very own family.

On behalf of all of us at Best Friends and everyone you have loved along the way, happy trails, Yogi!

A leader in the no-kill movement, Best Friends runs the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals, as well as lifesaving programs in partnership with rescue groups and shelters across the country. Since its founding in 1984, Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in American shelters from 17 million per year to about 4 million. By continuing to build effective initiatives that reduce the number of animals entering shelters and increase the number who find homes, Best Friends and its nationwide network of members and partners are working to Save Them All®.
