In today’s lesson you will learn the differences between looking forward to, Look forward to, Can’t wait for, Can’t wait to, and Can’t wait til. All of these expressions mean that you are excited about something in the future. You are eagerly anticipating a future event. This lesson will also help you to understand the English grammar rules for how to use these English expressions naturally in English to sound like a native English speaker.

Look forward to / Looking forward to:

Look forward to is a little more formal.
Looking forward to is a little more casual.
There are two ways to make sentences using look forward to / looking forward to.
1) Subject + look forward to + noun: I look forward to dinner. She looks forward to Friday. We are looking forward to the party. He loos forward to the end of the pandemic.
2) Subject + look forward to + verb + ing (gerund): I look forward to hearing from you. He is looking forward to going outside. They look forward to eating in a restaurant. She is looking forward to meeting us.

Can’t wait:

Can’t wait to: Subject + can’t wait + to + base verb. I can’t wait to see you again. He can’t wait to go on vacation.
Can’t wait for: Subject + can’t wait + for + noun. I can’t wait for the new movie. She can’t wait for the Olympics.
Can’t wait til: (Til is short for until) Subject + can’t wait + til + time / event. I can’t wait til Christmas. They can’t wait til midnight.

look forward toやlooking forward toを使って作る文が二つあります。

2) 主語+ look forward to + 動詞+ ing (動名詞)。

Can’t wait:
Can’t wait to: 主語+ can’t wait + to + 動詞の原形
Can’t wait for: 主語+ can’t wait + for + 名詞
Can’t wait til: (Tilはuntilの短縮)
主語 + can’t wait + til + 時 / 出来事
