As far as I’m concerned, it’s very important to learn English these days and this lesson will help you with that. In today’s English lesson you will improve both your vocabulary and speaking skills by learning how to express your opinion in English. You will learn a variety of expressions to give your opinion in English. In this JeN’s Jyugyou lesson you’ll learn how to have better conversations in English by using these expressions to share opinions.

The 12 useful English expressions for expressing your opinion that you will learn in this English vocabulary lesson, with examples, include:
1) I think (that)…
2) I feel (that)…
3) I believe (that)…
4) I would say …
*For the first four opinion expressions you can modify them by adding the word ‘personally’ : “I personally think …”, “I personally feel …”, “I personally believe…”, “Personally, I would say…”
*You can also make the first four expressions for sharing your opinion even stronger by adding words such as really, strongly, honestly etc: “I really think…”, “I honestly feel …”, “I strongly believe…”, I would definitely say…”
5) In my opinion … / In my personal opinion… / In my professional opinion…
6) In my view… / From my point of view …
7) It seems to me that …
8) As far as I’m concerned…
9) From my personal standpoint…
10) Based on my experience, I’d have to say…
*Expressions 11 and 12 for giving your opinion are great for when you haven’t thought about your thoughts on a certain topic, but someone has asked you. For example, on the IELTS test if someone asks you a question, but you don’t have an immediate opinion you can use these expressions to help answer the question!
11) I’ve never thought about that before, but…
12) I’m not too familiar with ~ (topic) ~, but I’d have to say…
