SUMMARY
-If you walked in a straight line around the equator, the journey would take around 502 days.
-You could start your trip form the southernmost point of South America, move north, cross the Bering Straight to Russia. Now you can start moving around Asia, heading all the way to Western Europe. From here, you can move along to Africa and catch some sun as you travel down to the Cape of Good Hope. There would still be many countries missing out including Australia unless you take the boat there. You could fly between continents and make other alterations to this route, but one thing would remain the same: the journey would be very long, much longer than 502 days.
-The average American covers around half of that distance, and 7,000 steps is the best-case scenario.
-Romanian student Dumitru Dan was the first recorded traveler to have walked around the world. The complete journey took him 13 years. Dave Kunst was officially the first person who was able to walk the entire circuit of Earth, excluding the water part. Steven Newman was the first person to walk 15,000 miles across the world all by himself. The most recent trip around the world is still in progress. Karl Bushby has been on the go for 18 years now.
