Kyle Kizu writes: How does screenwriting work? Does a studio hire a screenwriter and say go create a story and script? Or do they have a separate writer create a story and the screenwriter write the script? Or does the studio provide a guideline of what they want and the screenwriter goes off of that? I know it's more of a case by case thing. Like Nolan can go write his own thing and the studio will be more than happy to give him the money to make it. But when it comes to a movie that the studio thinks of doing, where do they go from there?
