GRAMMY.com was onsite at the 20th Essence Festival in New Orleans from July 3--6 to speak with participating artists about why R&B music should be celebrated and how the music has influenced their respective careers. The artists interviewed included GRAMMY winners 112, GRAMMY nominees Tevin Campbell, Luke James, Ledisi, and Tank, as well as Daley, Lil' Zane, Liv Warfield, and Keke Wyatt. Founded in 1995, Essence magazine says the festival is the largest stateside gathering of African-Americans in the United States and each year attracts more than 540,000 attendees.
