FINDING THE FUNK: "Finding the Funk" is a road trip in search of the past, present and future of Funk music. Starting with Funk's roots in Jazz and the James Brown bands of the '60s we travel to the Bay Area to celebrate Sly&the Family Stone, then to Dayton the birthplace of so many of Funk's originators, then Detroit where from the ashes of Motown, P-Funk's Mothership arose, and onto LA where a new crop of musicians are creating their own Funk history. On our journey into Funk, we talk to legends Sly Stone, Bootsy, George Clinton, Nona Hendryx, Maceo Parker, Bernie Worrell, and Steve Arrington and their descendants Mike D, D'Angelo, Sheila E and Shock G. Narrated by Questlove of the Roots.

Nelson George:
Nelson George is an author, filmmaker, television producer, and critic with a long career in analyzing and presenting the diverse elements of African-American culture. With credits and awards in writing too many to mention here, George also has worked extensively in film and was executive producer of the Chris Rock hosted feature documentary, Good Hair.
Nelson George served as host of Soul Cities, a travel show that debuted in November 2008. on VH1 Soul. He currently serves as travel editor-at-large for www.BlackAtlas.com.

EXPEDITION TO THE END OF THE WORLD: A documentary which follows the journey of a group of scientists and artists as they venture by ship into one of the last uncharted territories on Earth. Epic, breathtaking and awe-inspiring, this documentary depicts both the wild beauty of the Earth and man's own transitory role in evolution.

Daniel Dencik: Born in 1972 in Stockholm, Daniel Dencik is a Danish writer and film director. He graduated from film school in film editing, but debuted as a poet while he went to film school. Daniel Dencik has received a number of awards and scholarships in both film and literature, among other things, Night&Day Copenhagen Prize for the year's best literature, Danish Arts Foundation's three-year grant, festival award at the Jerusalem Film Festival.

Dencik made his debut as a documentary filmmaker with Moon Rider on bike rider Rasmus Quaade. He was voted Talent of the Year in documentary genre in Denmark in 2012 and received Reel Talent Award at CPH: DOX.

THE WINDING STREAM: The Winding Stream is a 90-minute High Definition music history documentary-in-progress that tells the story of the American roots music dynasty, the Carters and the Cashes. Starting with the Original Carter Family (A.P., Sara, Maybelle), the film traces the ebb and flow of their influence, the transformation of that act into the Carter Sisters, the marital alliance with legend Johnny Cash and the efforts of present-day family to keep this legacy alive. No one has yet pulled together all the elements of this family saga in one documentary. The goal of The Winding Stream is to honor this multi-generational family where it stands -- at the headwaters of American roots music.

Beth Harrington is an award-winning independent producer, director and writer, born in Boston and transplanted to the Pacific Northwest. She has been making media professionally since 1977. She most often focuses on work that explores American history, music and culture.

Harrington's independent production Welcome to the Club -- The Women of Rockabilly, a music documentary about the pioneering women of rock and roll, was released in 2003. In a previous lifetime, she was a rock&roll singer, most noted for her years as a member of Jonathan Richman&The Modern Lovers on the Warner Brothers Sire Records label
