Lowell Renold writes:
This weekend, Chappie is being released. And it's from director Neil Blomkamp, who made District 9. District 9 was widely praised from critics and audiences as one of the best sci-fi films ever. However, his next film Elysium received mixed reviews. But Chappie has been receiving terrible reviews. Many are now wondering if District 9 was a fluke. This has made me think of George Lucas and Star Wars. And the Wachowski brothers and The Matrix. Because their more recent films haven't delivered on the same level as their previous work, many doubt they had anything to do with those films being good. Just because a talented filmmaker's last few films were not very good, does that have to take away from what they've done with their best films?
