Thelma Wells has over 30 years of experience traveling globally speaking to corporations like: IBM, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Internal Revenue Service, Baylor Hospital, Coldwater Federal Penitentiary, University of Michigan, American Assocation of Christian Counselors, The House of Hope, Lutons Bank - United Kingdom, The Electricity Supply Company of Dublin, Ireland, and The University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
She has also spoken to numerous other organizations, corporations, universities, banks, governmental agencies and institutions throughout the world.
Thelma specializes in the art of motivating, inspiring and equipping people to "BEE Their Best." Her first speech has become her most requested: "A Formula for Success."
She learned the art of business and customer delight from being a trailblazer. Thelma was the first Black woman in the South to organize her own international speaking and consulting company customizing eighteen different programs for her clients.
Prior to speaking, she worked for John Deere Company and then NorthPark Bank (now Comerica) in Dallas, Texas. She became the first Black woman in the South to become an Assistant Vice President of a major bank. It was there that she grew to understand and love the importance of great customer service. In fact, she wrote a manual for New Accounts that became the standard in the industry.
Today, she is still teaching others to respect their customers, believe in themselves, and expect the best from others. And with her years of experience, she is excellent in coaching executives in public speaking skills. Her book, Capture Your Audience Through Storytelling was sold at the National Speakers Association and is still helping others become captive speakers today.
She is married and lives in Dallas with her husband, three children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
