Deadline is reporting that Fox Studios has won the rights to remake the classic John Carpenter film ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and that Carpenter himself will serve as an Executive Producer on the project. The original 1981 film starred Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, an eyed-patched convict sent into a maximum security prison, that was once the island of Manhattan, to rescue the President.
