'Empire' Star Jussie Smollett 'Stands For Love' At First Public Appearance Since Attack

Saturday, February 2, 2019 - Jussie Smollett performs at the Troubadour club in West Hollywood, CA on Saturday night, making his first public appearance since he was attacked last Tuesday in Chicago by two unknown offenders. The 'Empire' star was swarmed by media outlets as he was accompanied by friends and family, including mother Janet and sister Jurnee Smollett-Bell. During his performance, Jussie held back tears as he told the crowd, "There are so many words on my heart that I want to say. The most important that I can say, to keep it simple, thank you so much... Regardless of what anyone else says, I will only stand for love. We hope that you all stand with us."
