Disturbing Secret Science Experiments That Actually Happened

We all know the concept of the "mad scientist," but in reality, most scientists are boring. That's a good thing, because history's actual mad scientists have gotten up to some pretty heinous experiments.

What hath mad science wrought? Well, there's people like Robert White, the doctor fixated on head transplants, or J. Marion Sims, the so-called "father of modern gynecology" whose work involved horrific and abusive operations on Black women. Then there's the notorious Tuskegee experiment, which subjected even more Black people to involuntary infections of syphilis.

There are even huge-scale disasters like the Edgewood experiments, Operation Sea-Spray, and the time the government dropped 300,000 mosquitoes on Georgia -- and that's just scratching the surface of these disturbing secret science experiments that actually happened.
