David C writes: Hello to the AMC movie crew! I am a faithful devotee to your show. My question is about Guillermo del Toro almost directing The Hobbit: Did he decide to step down from the director's chair to do Pacific Rim? I know he had been wanting to make it for a while (and both films went into production around roughly the same time). If so, do you think that del Toro made the right choice, seeing as how The Hobbit did very well and Pacific Rim did not? I really enjoyed Pac Rim, but I was even happier that Peter Jackson directed The Hobbit.
